Pendampingan Belajar Bahasa Inggris untuk Siswa di Sekitar Area Pariwisata Kencana Beach Cottages Sumbawa Besar

Abstract

The PKM activity of English Learning Assistance for Students Living Around the Kencana Beach Cottages Tourism Area was held as an effort to improve the knowledge and English language skills of students who live around the Kencana Beach Cottages Tourism Area, which is located in Labuhan Badas Village, Labuhan Badas District, Sumbawa Regency. The problems partners face are: (1) Their location is close to a tourist area, (2) Foreign guests often visit the location where they live, and (3) Contextual learning assistance is needed for children to support their basic English skills. Therefore, the solution to overcome the above problems is 1) to prepare contextual teaching patterns to teach basic English skills and 2) to train language skills and practice them directly with foreign guests in the Kencana Beach Cottages Tourism Area. This service activity is carried out for one month, from November to December 2023, and includes the stages: 1) Preparation and 2) Implementation of Activities. The implementation of this program involves lecturers from the Sumbawa University of Technology campus and lecturers from the English Tadris Study Program at the Sumbawa Islamic College (STAIS), and 2) students who live around the Kencana Beach Cottages Tourism area, 3) Evaluation is carried out through speaking practice and interact with friends and foreign guests visiting the Kencana Beach Cottages Tourism area. The outputs obtained from implementing PKM through PKM English Learning Assistance consist of two outputs, namely mandatory outputs and additional outputs. The mandatory output is publication in an accredited scientific journal, and the additional output is improving the basic English communication skills of students living around the Kencana Beach Cottages Tourism area.
